Looking for Prospective Linemen
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, employment of electrical power-line installers and repairers is projected to grow 14 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. In addition to the growing needs in the national job market, Claverack Electric wants to reach out to those who may be interested in future employment as a lineman so we have a database of resources to draw from if the opportunity arises in the future. Have you or someone you know ever been interested in learning more about a career as a lineman?
Some of the important qualities of our linemen include:
- mental and physical strength
- no fear of heights
- desire to work hard
- enjoy working outdoors
Just a few of the benefits you would get as a lineman working for Claverack Electric are:
- a strong bond with fellow workers
- inner pride when you restore power or bring power to a new location
- doing something different every day
- great pay and benefits
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a lineman, please email Doug Nichols, Claverack's Director of Operations, at email@example.com.
One of our fellow cooperatives, Community Electric Cooperative in Windsor, VA, was kind enough to allow us to provide a link to their video titled, "Day In the Life of a Lineman." This is a perfect example of the kind of people electric cooperatives are looking for, as well as one of the Seven Cooperative Principles put into action, Cooperation Among Cooperatives! Please take a few minutes to check it out: click here to see this awesome video.
