When the Cooperative has margins (revenues minus expenses) at the end of the year, those margins are allocated (spread) to active members based on their electric usage during that year. Annually, the board of directors determines if the Cooperative is in a financial position to distribute any margins or capital credits back to the members. This is called a capital credit retirement and is given to the members in either a bill credit, or in the case of an inactive member, a check. In June of 2022, Claverack completed a capital credit retirement of over $1.6 million based on the amount of electricity purchased in years 1989, 1990, 2008 and 2021. The bills that our active members received in July of 2022 included the applicable credit, and checks were mailed to former members who no longer have active service for which we have valid address information. However, we have many former members who have checks awaiting them, but we are unable to mail those checks because we no longer have a valid address on file.
Please help us locate these members so we can return their money. Click on the link below to access the List of Unclaimed Funds and take a few minutes to scan the alphabetized list. If you recognize any of these former members, and can provide us with their address, please email us at email@example.com, or call us at 1-800-326-9799 or 570-265-2167.
