When the Cooperative has margins (revenues minus expenses) at the end of the year, those margins are allocated (spread) to active members based on their electric usage during that year. Annually, the board of directors determines if the Cooperative is in a financial position to distribute any margins or capital credits back to the members. This is called a capital credit retirement and is given to the members in either a bill credit, or in the case of an inactive member, a check. For more details, click this Capital Credit Explanation link.
In June of 2021, Claverack completed a capital credit retirement of $1.5 million based on the amount of electricity purchased in years 1988, 2008 and 2020. The July bills of active members will include the applicable credit, and checks will be mailed to former members who no longer have active service for which we have valid address information. However, we have many former members that have checks awaiting them, but are unable to mail those checks because we no longer have a valid address on file.
Please help us locate these members so we can return their money. Click here for a List of Former Members and take a few minutes to scan the alphabetized list. If you recognize any of these former members, and can provide us with their address, please email us at shelleyy@ctenterprises.org, or call us at 1-800-326-9799 or 570-265-2167.
