As the outside temperature changes, it's important to remember that the weather does affect your bill! In addition, you usually pay for electricity 4-6 weeks after use. Be sure to look at the timeframe your most recent bill covers - the previous reading date through the current reading date.
Monthly electric bills can increase by over $100 per device by using:
- Portable electric heaters
- Engine block heaters
- Heat tapes or heat lamps
- Livestock water de-icers
- Air conditioning units
- Pool pumps
If you use electric baseboard heat or have a heat pump at your home, your bills will also increase during the cold winter temperatures. Conversely, if you have central air or a heat pump, warmer temperatures will increase your electric consumption.
Please use your electricity wisely!
